13 tips for adjusting to life as a post-secondary student

The start of a new school year can bring both excitement and anxiety. For post-secondary students moving away from home for the first time – whether from a small Alberta town or a country half a world away – that anxiety can be compounded.

It’s a scenario Dr. Tanya Spencer knows well as lead for student counselling at NAIT. Here, she offers some tips for surviving and thriving when you move away from home, alongside advice from someone who’s been there – Radio and Television student True Lazariuk. She moved to Edmonton from Lloydminster to study at NAIT in January 2018, and is currently back home doing her practicum at a radio station.
