The mind behind one of Canada's fastest-growing companies

Fahad Khan built Canada Prime Marketing on mentorship, relationships and high standards

By the age of 23, Fahad Khan (Marketing '07) was already running his own marketing and event management company, only two years after graduating from NAIT.

The young entrepreneur, who moved to Canada from Pakistan in 2000, founded Canada Prime Marketing in 2009. Since then, the company has grown from a handful of employees to 80 staff based in Edmonton, Calgary and Surrey, B.C. Working with clients like Telus and Soda Stream has helped make a name for them in the industry.

In 2017, the company made Canadian Business magazine’s Profit 500 list of fastest-growing companies, ranking No. 1 in Edmonton and No. 2 in Alberta.

Leading the company to success validated the CEO’s mindset and approach to business.

"If you're just doing what everybody else is doing, you're going to be settling for average."

“Just stay out, keep learning, keep building connections and you gotta hustle. If you're just doing what everybody else is doing, you're going to be settling for average.”

Khan keeps his business competitive by investing in millennials. He believes that the generation behind him will use technology to find better, more creative solutions to tomorrow’s business challenges – adding value for current and future clients of Canada Prime Marketing.

The relationships he established at NAIT continue to play a role in his future. In fact, one way he brings fresh talent into the organization is by recruiting students to join the company at NAIT Career Fair.

In the future, he hopes to be seen as a good mentor – someone who can not only add value to the business, but to individuals as well.

“I just want to be known as someone who made a difference.”
